February's Favorites

Hola Pescaditos! (Hello Fishies)

This Month has been a lovely one and although I've had many favorite products, I tried to narrow the list down to the most magical ones!

Lets start with hair products:

The first Product I've been loving and will probably love forever is my L'OREAL studio line Hair Putty.
I absolutely love this stuff for when I curl my hair, I grab some and rub it in my palms and then texturize my hair avoiding the root. This thing keeps my hair curled longer than with hairspray alone. It feels a bit sticky at the beginning but once it sets into the hair its so perf, and it doesn't make my hair sticky nor stiff which I love. Besides that is an affordable product, it smells soooo good, it's a win win!

Next product is also by L'OREAL, its the EverPure Moisture Leave-in conditioner
This product is meant to help keep your hair color from fading ( for us princesses with died hair) and also to nourish dry hair. While I honestly haven't noticed any color protection, I do appreciate how soft it leaves my hair AND the main reason I use this is because it kills the frizz in my hair!! I use so many damaging tools when I do my hair, I try to give it a rest from time to time, so I let my hair air dry and while damp, I apply this all over my hair minus the roots, its a clear liquid and it just smells clean, I highly recommend for a "whatever hair day".

This little gem was found by mistake when I went to Marshalls to get a yoga mat lol, and let me tell you, IT WORKS.. The name is Michael O'Rourke Get a Lift volumizing Spray.
I spray this on the roots of my damp hair and when its time to blow-dry it I really feel like this product helps my hair have more volume!

Check out how I use this Volumizing Spray here!!

Lets move on to makeup:

I'm gonna start with one of my favorite brands,  TARTE
I've been using this LipSurgence natural matte lip tint in "Hope"
its a beautiful pink lipstick that I think goes with everyones complexion, this was my alternate to the classic "nude". It has a minty sensation and it stays on your lips for a long time, love love love.

This next lip item is a lip Stain, its called
Smooch proof LipStain 16H by NYC in the color 499 Forever Mine Wine

This is a lovely wine color stain, it looks just like a marker lol. I apply chapstick all over my lips and then I take this stain and just apply it along my inner lips, this gives a nice cute effect of "I just ate a Popsicle" kinda thing ^_^!

So this little guy has been my favorite Chapstick for centuries now (not literally that long of course lol) but anyhow, its the EOS Lipbalm
not only is this an incredible item that moisturizes my lips(SPF 15+) but the packaging is WOAH! I just love the unconventional look and you get a lot of product. I have mine in summer fruit

This next product is the elf Mineral Eyeshadow Primer in the shade "sheer"
I use this every day to prime my eyelids before applying my eyeshadow and I'm really loving this, it was really inexpensive, I feel like it works and it covers enough of my veiny lids -.-

Now we have my ultimate everyday must have, and it's the NYX retractable eye liner in 04 brown

I use this directly above my eyelashes to create the illusion of fuller lashes and I do the same with my lower lash line. This is a great alternative to a black eyeliner which can be a bit harsh at times, brown gives a more natural look.

yum....

So my lovely mother has been preparing me smoothies all month long and I'm absolutely obsessed with this Berry/Pineapple one.
All it has is water, frozen mixed berries and frozen pineapple pieces with a bit of honey and tada!! a nice yummy healthy drink :D .. even Zoe (my cat) likes it! lol

Last but not least are my Altoids smalls peppermint mints

you guys these are soooo adorable, not only because they're tiny but they aren't round!! they're actually little squares! the box comes with 50 mints and its so compact, it fits everywhere. Important to always carry something to have your breath smelling delish!

And so that's my list of things I've been using for the Month of February, hopefully some of the things I mentioned will work for you too ^_~ ! <3

 Magical kisses!!

Mermaid Hair

As many of you know, I haven't had conventional hair since 2009.  Over the years I've learned that having a funky hair color requires more than just the desire of "colorful" hair. I absolutely hate the road (process) to this majestic hair color but we must all sacrifice a little sometimes.  I've had purple hair or as I call it "Mermaid Hair" for over a year now and I couldn't be happier!
Having dark hair gives me the disadvantage of having to bleach my hair before applying the actual color, I'm not a professional hairstylist so I might be doing things wrong but hey...works for me!
A day after retouching my hair dye

Step 1: Preparing the bleach
Take some of the lightener powder and mix it with the creme developer,  mix it well using the dye brush until it turns into a pasty consistency. The amount you use depends how much hair you're going to bleach. IMPORTANT: wear gloves while doing this, the bleach mix can actually burn the skin so be careful!

Step 2: Bleaching hair
You will part your hair in different sections, I always start with a part in the middle. Using your dye brush start covering your roots with the bleach as close to the scalp as possible or wherever you desire to lighten your hair. Wrap your hair with a plastic bag to create heat and help the bleach work better.

You will notice your hair getting lighter in no time, I leave the bleach in my hair for about an hour but are constantly checking on it to see the progress. When the hour has passed, I rinse my hair without using any shampoo nor conditioner, this will help the hair dye stick better to your hair. Blow dry your hair and move on to the next step.

Step 3: Hair Color
Grab your vaseline and apply it on your hairline, forehead, ears and neck, this will prevent your skin from staining so much. I combine different hair dyes and just like the bleach, I mix it all using a dye brush in a plastic bowl until I reach the color of my dreams.

Apply it all over my roots and all over my hair to enrich the color thats already there. When done, grab a plastic bag or any plastic cover to put it on your head, this will create heat which will open the pores of every hair strand allowing it to suck all the color in. Because the hair dyes that I use don't really have any chemicals and are vegan, I leave my hair color over night, but its important to read & follow the directions depending on the brand.

Here are some Hair Dye brands that I've used with good results
  • Manic Panic
  • Splat
  • Raw color
  • La riche
  • Special effects

Step 4: Time for your Mermaid Hair
Rinse your hair with water as cold as you can take it, this will help the pores of your hair lock the new color in better than rinsing with warm water. Shampoo & Condition as you would normally do and viola! your hair should be as magical as a mermaid's.

Things you should know.. !!
  • Purple Dye will stain your scalp/skin and almost anything you touch (towels, clothes, etc)
  • The blonder your hair, the more the purple will show
  • Bleach is really damaging to the hair
  • Bleach can cause split-ends
  •  Purple hair is high maintenance

Thank you for reading, hope this was
helpful to you,
if you have any questions don't be shy and ask!
Have a lovely day & remember to
 always believe in magic!
